See Through the Eyes of a Mars Rover at ARTECHOUSE

And welcome back everyone. The news of Baker, our house is known for their totally immersive art installations. And now they're partnering with NASA for a new exhibition. It's called Beyond The Light. And Chloe A is on the scene with More Chloe. Me and Baker are so excited about this. Good morning. Good morning Baker. That's absolutely right. As I mentioned before, I'm below Chelsea Market right now at our house is On The Light and I actually have Rio with me who is the Director of Digital Strategy at our house. Thank you so much for having us. This is so amazing. Tell us a little bit about Art House and what it was like to work with NASA on this. I mean, it's amazing. So our tech house is New York's original home for digital art. And our mission is to expand the possibilities of art and how we experience it. And so we are standing in, like you said, one of those original creations of art today Beyond The Light, we've been talking with NASA since 2018 and through various online and virtual and in person working sessions, we developed the concept for this exhibition. So this exhibition is all about light and how we perceive it and the various sort of explorations that NASA has done and the data that they collect and what is so cool is that this is a science grounded exhibition, but it is an original work of art. And you can absolutely tell that by Lara. Let's check this out right over here because I looking in the dreams of a Mars rover. So what can you tell us about this? So there are five Mars Rovers that have gone up into space and each of them NASA has given a unique personality. They all have their own voice and their social medias. You can check them out on Twitter. And what we've done is we've built individual unique algorithms that generate the dreams of what they, what they would imagine. So each one of these, we've selected artists and musicians and movies and created through an A I algorithm original works of art. So what you can do is you can select one of these. So I selected for Hoppy. And then over there on behind the Xr bar, we see these sort of what their dreams might look like. And I think it's super fun. It's a really fun thing. If you're at the bar, you know, drinking an original cocktail, which is a great thing to do for date Night, Father's Day or sort of any, you know, any, any time you can then pick the art that you're seeing behind you or in front of you. But then try to imagine which artists they like what their personalities are, you know, what movies they like. So it's sort of a fun little interactive way to spend some time. Absolutely. Especially while enjoying a cocktail. Now, we're coming to one of the biggest solar events in the 18 fifties here. The Carrington event, which I didn't know anything about until you told me about it today. Definitely. So the Carrington event was something that basically it is a what's called a coronal mass ejection. And so it is a ton of energy that explodes from the sun. And in the 18 hundreds, what happened was that it took out all of the technical infrastructure. And so this, this installation really explores how reliant on first sort of our technological infrastructure today, but also showing what would be impacted if we had a coronal mass ejection, you know, right now, if there is another Carrington event. Absolutely. So as you step up to it, you basically get to, you can interact and as you interact, it reveals the layers of data that are integrated into this installation. So we're looking at all of these different data points that are from nasa's actual database of data. Um And um it's also gorgeous, but what I think is fun is that as you go through these are all um flight paths. And so it's like I I was going through and trying to find um oh uh airports that I've been to and one that I want to go to. And it's, it's just, it's an interesting way to think about our uh how light and how this sort of really powerful force that we sort of take for granted actually impacts us in a very major way, Rio such cool stuff. And I can't wait to dig deeper into this and talk a little bit more about the overall theme of this exhibit as well. Good morning, Hannah. That's right. I've been exploring art tech houses Beyond The Light Exhibit all day and now I'm standing in the main event and I have Rio Vader with me once again, the Director of Digital Strategy to talk all about this. What are we looking at right now? We are looking at this original artistic exploration of nasa's discoveries and how they've used light to explore the universe and really how humans have used light the universe over the course of our history. Yes. Speaking of that, you ran me a little bit through what this all entailed. Tell me the story of light through history with humanity, of course. So what we're actually in right now is the very first scene, right? This is the primordial, this is the start. And what happens over the course of the exhibition is that in every scene we start at the primordial and we go all the way to the James Love Space telescope and the sort of most modern discoveries that NASA has done. And in every scene we look at society being curious about what else is out there asking this question, what can we not see what is beyond the light that we see? And every scene we sort of explore the development of that over time, especially meaningful too because we now use light to explore the universe as you explained to me earlier. Speaking of, let's talk about the James Webb telescope and how revolutionary it is. What was the process of transforming the data from that into this experience? Well, that is what is so amazing about the Arctic Coast studio and about the work that they do because they took still images. NASA produces still images and they took those still images and transformed them into something dynamic and motion and gorgeous. That is this cinematic experience that we're in today. Amazing. And of course, we can hear some things as well. There is music to accompany this. So tell me about the process of transforming that data and this experience into music too. Of course. So we always work with revolutionary artists and artists leading the field. And so you know, we work with Fuse and Sage Jensen. But one of those artists is Meal and the meal studio. And what he did was he took and created an original instrument information on the periodic table. And then using spectroscopy data developed this soundscape that we're standing in or for this exhibition. So it again is grounded in the science and the data that NASA has discovered. I love Rio, how every single installation in here is literally data driven as well as being beautiful and experiential as well. Now, obviously, we're in the York City right now, which is where this is running. Give me the dates. When is this done running here in the in New York? How long will it be running for? And if people can't make it here, what else can they see? Well, so this is at least running through the summer. So as you're making your summer plans, definitely try to try to get down here because it is worth it. I promise you. But if you aren't able to make it to New York, we also have locations, permanent locations in Washington DC where we're showing pixel gloom, we time with butterflies and incredible visual celebration. And then also in Miami, Miami Beach, if you want to go down and get some sun. And that is Magenta Verse, which is our original collaboration with Pantone, which we actually had a chance to check out here on chatter news earlier this year as well. Rio Vader.
