Seven time super bowl champion, Tom Brady announced his official retirement from the NFL in the past year and the legendary quarterback may have hung up his cleats but his involvement with the game is set to live on when he joins Fox Sports as the network's lead NFL analyst. I spoke to Brady about the deal with Fox shortly before the stock market opened yesterday. We also discussed the growing popularity of sports betting and the football icon also reflected on some of the challenges he's faced in the past year, both on and off the field. Take a look. Sports betting is gaining a lot of traction around the country as more and more states legalize it as an NFL legend, Tom, is that something that you're interested in? Betting in general is big everywhere. Betting on the stock market has been big for a long time as you know. So I think it's inherent as probably one of the, that's the way people have worked for thousands of years. So we make bets on different things. Some people make bets on stocks, some people make bets on commodities. Some people make bets on sports. Some people go to casinos and bets. So, it's definitely a part of our life. I think how we do it in a responsible way is ultimately the most important. Yes, it's entertainment. Yes, it can be fun. Um, there's some risks associated with it and I think people are gonna have to understand the inherent risk with winning and losing and then, uh, act responsibly, act responsibly, uh, with their own, you know, resources as best they can. Well, speaking of those bets, we just heard the opening bell behind us down here on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Yes, the stock market officially opened for trade on this June 1st and you can hear the cheering behind me, Tom. I also want to talk about what is in store for your deal to join Fox Sports as lead analyst for their broadcasts. When can fans expect to see you transition into that role uh next year in the fall of, in the fall of next year, I'll be out there and uh I really look forward to, to that opportunity too. I think to have uh Fox make that commitment to me. And I think we've had a lot of great conversations. I have some time before that happens. So I'm really working hard to try to uh be great at that. I like anything. I want to put my full heart and time and energy into, into that, it's gonna take a little time to transition into that role. But this season is gonna be a good year for me to sit back and really watch, really listen intently and develop a great strategy and game plan for that. So I love the fact that I'll have that opportunity to share with the fans how I see the game of football through my set of eyes. What I've always looked for, what I've always looked at the expectations that people should have for what an offense should look like, or a defense or how critical coaching decisions and see that from the lens that I've been able to develop over 32 years of playing football. So I'm excited to share that with the fans. Hopefully they enjoy it. I wanted to make it fun and entertaining. I'll have that opportunity, but I really look forward to doing it next year when I have, you know, when I've kind of taken this year to really construct my life in a way that is best suited to move forward. Yeah, let's talk about this past year before that new chapter, Tom, your fans have seen you go through a lot and I think more than anything else they want to know how you're doing. What would you tell them? Yeah, I'm doing, uh, you know, this has been a year of obviously transition from, um, personal life to professional life and, you know, I think the most, uh, concern I am is certainly with, uh, how I am with my kids and trying to be there for them and support them as best I can and the transitions they have too. So, um you know, my dad always says all you could do is the best you could do with the opportunities and circumstances that are there in front of you. And, and I think for me that's, that's how I feel as well. So trying to take every day, you know, nothing's promised you can take it, uh, you know, our life a day at a time and just do the best we could do. So, um, obviously transition to those other side of the state here. I now live in Miami and trying to make a life over here. My kids are getting out of school today and they're going to start school here in the fall. So by that time, things will be a little more settled.
